Our Mission

The C.H.I.L.D. Organization of Scotch Plains Fanwood is a foundation of supports and resources to families that have children with special needs and learning differences.

Our objectives are to strengthen and advocate for the rights of those

with challenges and differences.

Commitment to Education & Community

What We've Done

Members from our organization have planned and hosted one of the most successful Special Educational Conferences in NJ to date - Conference 2005!  Working with Resolve, we brought to fruition a new program, The High School Transition Program for 8th Graders, while providing for increased student participation in our existing Transition to Middle School Program for 4th Graders.  Equally successful and delightful for the students is our end of the year Recognition Night that is always a favorite treat for all!  With over 400 attendees, children and their families enjoy live entertainment, activities while feasting on dozens on entrees and treats!

Many thanks to the following restaurants, organizations and businesses in Scotch Plains and surrounding areas for all their support:

AIG Incentives USA Scoops
The Municipal Alliance Committee Sovereign Bank Spencer Savings Bank
Apple Blossom Flower Shop Palmer Video Snuffy's
Commerce Bank Perkins Family Restaurant Swiss Pastry Shoppe
Famous Dave's Pizza Brothers The Old Country Buffet
Nunzio's Quick Check Our Faithful Volunteers

More For You

Throughout the entire year we have worked and continue to endeavor to bring in qualified and enjoyable speakers at our educational workshops for teachers, parents and related specialists every month.  Bringing in outside presenters, many topics of need and interest are covered, i.e. ADD/ADHD, Bullying, Nutrition, Sensory Integration, Bipolar, Dyslexia, Auditory Processing, Asperger's, etc.

Our special guests have been but are not limited to Doctors, Specialists, Clinicians, Learning Consultants, Attorney's and other Professionals that work with children or provide services to them or their families.  Our workshops are also designed to provide Professional Development Hours that can be applied towards Continuing Education Units for member professionals and teachers.  Are programs are FREE and all are welcome to attend.
